As you take your phone out in direct sunlight, the built-in sensors will kick in, pushing the display to full brightness, giving you a serious hit in the battery life department. With the option turned off you can save quite a bit of battery life too. The thing is, Apple made some changes and they are worth pointing out as time goes by. Force restart an iPhone 11? That's an entirely different story. You really have to fiddle with some button combinations in order to power down an iPhone now. Simply pressing and holding the sleep/wake button won't do you justice. If you think this decision by Apple is weird, then try powering down the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro or iPhone 11 Pro Max. Scroll all the way down and you'll find the Auto-Brightness toggle switch waiting to be turned off.
